Description of structural interventions

The works took place between May 2018 - April 2019 and aimed to transform the structural type of the building. Originally made of confined masonry, the structure has been consolidated to function as reinforced concrete frame structure, to modern standards of strength and durability.

In order to achieve these performances, the following works were carried out:

• crack injection in reinforced concrete elements (beams, columns, slabs),

• repair and restoration of damaged sections,

• carbon and glass fiber reinforcement of pillars and beams,

• application of fire protection systems,

• transformation of beams to absorb bending moments and shear forces,

• the application of fiber-reinforced special mortars and professional epoxy resins.

These procedures included dismantling plasters, opening and grouting cracks, restoring degraded sections with thixotropic mortar, applying carbon fiber and glass fabrics with epoxy adhesives, pressing the reinforcing systems and finishing them with fire-resistant materials up to REI 180 minutes.

Certified materials and systems were used (Mapei - Epojet, Adesilex PG1, MapeWrap, Carboplate, etc.) and all interventions were carried out in accordance with approved consolidation technologies and the standards in force.

The end result

The industrial building has been completely transformed, both structurally and functionally, becoming a modern, safe and fully operational craft brewery.

The work combined state-of-the-art technology with rigorous craftsmanship, providing an example of successful architectural conversion and structural reinforcement.
